Energy at any time, at any place, for any requirement will soon
no longer be just a vision. So that energy in a free world market
can arrive wherever it is needed, we are working on technologies
that will make energy transmission over great distances economical,
e.g. HVDC or superconductivity. They form the basis for the Global
Energy Grid — a worldwide energy network connecting
all continents: Differently structured power supply systems will
be linked, energy reserves in remote regions of the earth will
be utilized and power will be transmitted across time zones to
wherever it is needed. Energy that knows no borders is no longer
