Germany installs 309MW new solar capacity in June

Installations in June 2013 were six times smaller than the previous year. Image: SAG Solarstorm Germany installed 309MW of PV capacity in June according to the network authority Bundesnetzagentur.

The figure will be disappointing to many as it has traditionally been the largest install month for solar. In June 2012 new installations totalled 1.79GW.

This June’s total is a fall compared to May’s figure of 344.2MW.

The additions, however disappointing, mean a total of 4.99GW has been installed in the previous 12 months triggering a regression in subsidy support. Plants above the 1MW level will see tariffs fall 1.8% in each of the three months starting from 1 August.

The rate will fall to just below the €0.10 kWh (US$0.13) mark for the first time in October.

Installations below 10kW will remain above €0.14 kWh (US$0.19).
