Project Focus: Amonix Breaks Ground on Nevada Manufacturing
Nov 15, 2101 - Syanne Olson - PV-tech.org
On hand in North Las Vegas, Nevada, Amonix was joined
by state senators and representatives to break ground
on a new 214,000 square foot manufacturing facility.
Using the US$5.8 million American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act manufacturing tax credit, Amonix will be using
the new site to produce CPV solar power systems for
Nevada and neighboring state installations.
“CPV solar is a key part of America’s
energy portfolio because of its compelling bottom
lines in sunny and dry climates like the desert southwest,” said
Brian Robertson, Amonix CEO. “These include
the highest efficiency of any solar technology, cost
at grid parity and the fact that CPV uses no water
in the production of energy."
Keeping in stride with its drive for renewable energy
Amonix is utilizing its 7700 solar power system to
help produce some of the electrical power necessary
to run the facility. At full capacity, the plant
will operate round the clock with a 150MW annual
capacity. The first line and first phase of the manufacturing
facility is expected to be on line by the end of
the first quarter 2011.
