Colexon completes 2.4MWp rooftop installation in
Germany

Colexon
has completed a 2.4MWp photovoltaics installation
on the 50,000m2 rooftop of tile manufacturer Porcelaingres'
factory, located in Brandenburg, Germany. The roof
will be leased to Colexon for a period of 20 years.
The company utilized modules from the thin-film
specialist First Solar and inverters from SMA for
the project, which is expected to be connected to
the grid by the end of 2010.
"We focus on large-scale rooftop areas for
our solar power plants instead of building solar
parks on free fields which could be utilized for
other purposes," said Thorsten Preugschas, CEO
of Colexon. "This approach is not only logical
from an ecological perspective but is also more profitable
for our investors due to the adjustment in the feed-in
tariff," continued Preugschas.
"Porcelaingres aligns its production processes
to ecological aspects. For example, in our production
process we utilize the fragments of tiles, use sewage
water as well as an extensive rainwater collecting
tank," said Graziano Verdi, CEO of the GranitiFiandre
Group. "In this context, it perfectly matches
to lease our rooftop areas for generating solar energy," concluded
Verdi.
