Two European rooftop projects are beneficiaries of 208kW of Xunlight’s solar modules

Dec. 19, 2011 - Nilima Choudhury - pv-tech.org

Pezinok, Slovakia, is one of two locations for Xunlight's rooftop installations.

Thin-film silicon solar module manufacturer Xunlight, has announced the sale of 208kW of its solar panels through a European channel partner for two rooftop installations in Europe. The company received its IEC 61646 and 61730 certification, conducted by TÜV InterCert Group, at the beginning of this year, which enables the US-based company to market its products in Europe.

Pezinok in Slovakia and Spilimbergo, Italy, will be the recipients of the rooftop facilities. Xunlight has supplied 360 of its 2.6kg per square metre, flexible XR36 291W photovoltaic modules for each of these 104kW installations. The modules were assembled in Xunlight's Kunshan, China, facility using triple-junction thin-film solar cells manufactured in the United States in its 25MW roll-to-roll solar cell production line located in Toledo, Ohio.

"We are pleased that Xunlight modules have been selected for these projects," said Dr. Xunming Deng, Xunlight president and CEO. "We are seeing increasing demand for our products. Since Xunlight modules can be easily integrated into roofing systems and classified as innovative, projects utilizing Xunlight modules will qualify for the highest available subsidies intended to incentivize building-integrated photovoltaics in many markets."

Xunlight recently completed a 220 KW demonstration project utilizing its flexible solar panels in partnership with Trina Solar Limited.
