Kurla and Sion

C19 Soon after the Sion-Matunga scheme was started, with its attendant roadways, housing development in Kurla took off.

C20 In 1918 the city limits were expanded upto Kurla. Very soon after this a new railway line connecting Kurla to Chembur was constructed and then extended to Mankhurd. A spate of building activity took place in the 1920's.

When the Bandra-Kurla Commercial Complex starts, the eastern suburb of Kurla is likely to become as costly as the suburbs to the west.
