Welcome to the GENI World Wide Web Site. At this time GENI is not incorporating into our web site the Web Page Disability Access Design Standards developed by the Office of Equality Assurance. Instructions for Users with Visual Disabilities

Our web site has not been designed to be used with a screen reader. Instead, most images on our web site are accompanied by a word image tag that may be visible if your browser supports the alt-text html function.

If a web page has an on-line form that is not accessible, please call 619 595 0158 or e-mail the office here (info@geni.org) for assistance in obtaining the form or filling it out.

Instructions for Users who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

The GENI Web Page Design Guide recommends that all audio and video clips have text transcriptions or descriptions with a (CC) hyperlink . At this time GENI has not posted the closed-captioned text for audio or video clips on our web site. If you need a transcript, please contact GENI here (info@geni.org) with your request.


Instructions/Site Specifications for Users In General

The GENI web site has been designed for people who have computer monitors/displays with at least 800 x 600 pixel capability. Their monitors should be able to display at least 256 colors. We recommend at least the Netscape 4.7 or Microsoft 5.0 browsers.

Multimedia Site Specifications

The GENI Multimedia web site has been designed for people with broadband access to the Internet. For example, people with Cable access, DSL, and T1 access should have no difficulties in the Multimedia section of the site.

The time it takes for various Flash/Quicktime/Java animations to download and display depends on several factors, including:

  • the speed of your computer cpu and video card,
  • the amount of RAM in your computer cpu and video card,
  • the amount of available space on your computer's hard drive,
  • the capacity of your Internet connection, and
  • the amount of traffic at your ISP and the Internet in general.

To be able to view all of the work displayed on the GENI Multimedia site, we expect as a minimum:

  • the Flash 5/Shockwave 5 viewer or above
  • the QuickTime 4.0.1 viewer or above
  • JavaScript capability
  • Java capability.
